Collographs are a print taken from a very textured collage. You build an image on a base plate by sticking down various materials such as  torn and cut paper, cardboard, fabrics, paint, threads, leaves and grass for example.  Ink or pigment is applied to the resulting collage, and the board is used to print onto paper using either a printing press or various hand tools. The print picks up all the various textures.

We will experiment with very simple ways of producing a collograph that doesn't need a printing press necessarily although I have a small one in the studio that can be used if wanted.

In this workshop we will specifically look to natural and organic elements for textural inspiration such as plants, seed heads, bark and feathers.
